No one could miss them. Student, faculty and staff, as well as visitors and community members no doubt noticed the nearly 4,000 blue and pink flags posted in the front lawn of Main Hall during the last week in October. The pink and blue flags, which represented the number of abortions that happen in the US each day, were put up as a protest by Students for Life, a recognized student organization.

Universities across Michigan may soon face trouble enforcing a newly passed proposal which legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Proposal 1, which passed in Michigan in the Nov. 4 election, legalized the possession of up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana with a valid prescription.

On Tuesday night, many people gathered at the Marquette Republican Headquarters to watch the presidential election in hopes of a victory for Sen. John McCain. Community members and Northern students alike sat in front of a television screen, switching between CNN and Fox News for election results.
